Fungisai Nota and the Thornton Peace Prize
We’ve just received word that Fungisai (Fungi) Nota will be honored on May 16th with the Thornton Peace Prize!
“Fungisai Nota, a current graduate student, teacher, and researcher at UNR, truly exemplifies someone who makes peace not only a goal to work towards, but a current reality. Nota has promoted peace and harmony among students, faculty and members in the community on many scales. He has been a role model to the incoming generation of students and promising to contribute to a future of African, African-American, and global peace.”
Nice work Fungi!
Fungi served as a volunteer for the AIDS Care Group during the summer of 2005 to assess the housing conditions in Chester and made suggestions as to how to evolve a housing division for the agency.
It is largely due to Fungi’s work that we have adopted the goal of providing 100 units of clean, safe, and affordable housing to our consumers.
And we are well on our way. To date, we’ve acquired five large properties and have begun transforming them into clean, safe, and affordable housing. Eight units are complete and are now housing our consumers.
Fungi, thank you for all of your hard work. You truly deserve this award!
